the Beavertown Psychedelic Skull Glass.
This is the story of the Beavertown Psychedelic Glass Project.
Strangely enough it all started with a chance meeting with Camden Town Brewery at the Beer & Cider Marketing Awards (where we and Shepherd Neame won the “Best Use of Merchandise” category for our campaign with Whitstable Bay - you can read about it here). We got to chatting & were referred onto Beavertown, who were in the market for new & innovative POS Merchandise to supplement their existing stock and to help with a new brand push. Very quickly we pulled pulled together a presentation for a number of new products and some custom Retail Store Apparel. This developed onto the very successful Tempus Project collaboration we produced with Beavertown X Carhartt. Now of course this wasn’t glassware, but all great projects start somewhere, and often not where you would think.
Over the coming months the relationship developed and conversations quickly moved to pint glasses. Beavertown had an updated concept and finding the RIGHT glass was absolutely key. From this brief and a further presentation, we narrowed it down to 4 designs from Arc in France. This was really well received, but as so often can happen as new projects mature, the timeframes and a few other project parameters began to come under some pressure. We wanted to get it spot on - Beavertown did too - and as the changes to their existing were not little ones, and had to answer to some brand questions, it was decided to hold fire until we could make sure the project was 100% from top to bottom. And this is what we are all about so we were more than happy to continue development on this one.
Out of this though came the Psychedelic Skull Glass you see now. We re-developed the original Pint design into custom Half Pints, and after much testing we went forward with the “Cider” option from Sahm. What came out was a dynamic, provocative and truly modern glass design, that was completely on-brand with the Beavertown message.
Next up is continuation of the Pint project, looking at a hybrid design taking key cues from their existing Half Pint here to develop and maintain brand integrity and continuity, while giving a refreshed look.
A BIT OF HISTORY.
It all begins with an idea. For Beavertown this was back in 2011 when Logan (he’s the founder) thought it would be cool to start home-brewing in his kitchen, using nothing more that a 50 litre rice pan, a camping cool box and a tea urn.
From here the dream started. The plan was to start the brewery in the kitchen of a BBQ restaurant. They called it “Duke’s Brew & Que”.
An American BBQ/Brewpub was born, and the 650 litre brew house Beavertown Brewery took it’s place opposite the smokers. Next Logan got to work on creating the 8 Ball Rye IPA to pair with the spice and rub used on the pork ribs, and The Smog Rocket Smoked Porter to accompany the smoked, molasses and char of the beef ribs. From there the Beavertown Brewery story continues through to today.
